The working principle and structural characteristics of centrifugal atomizers
2023-12-28 13:40:06

      Centrifugal atomizer is a widely used process equipment in the liquid forming and drying industry. It is more suitable for producing powder and granular solid products from solutions, lotion, suspensions and plastic paste liquids. Therefore, when the particle size distribution, residual moisture content, bulk density, and particle shape of the finished product need to meet accurate standards. Spray drying is an ideal technology.

Working principle of centrifugal atomizer:

       The centrifugal atomizer is a component of the spray drying device that enables the atomizing medium to obtain high energy and high speed. It is also a key component that affects atomization efficiency and stability of the atomization process. The motor drives the large gear through a coupling, which meshes with the small gear on the shaft. The accelerated gear shaft drives the secondary large gear, achieving high-speed rotation of the atomization disc. When the feed liquid enters the feed pipe of the centrifugal atomizer, the liquid distributor evenly injects into the high-speed rotating spray tray, and the liquid material is sprayed into tiny atomized droplets, which greatly increases the surface area of the liquid material, contacts with the hot air in the drying room, and quickly evaporates the water to dry into finished products in a short time.

       The structural characteristics of centrifugal atomizers:

(1) When the feed rate fluctuates, the gear transmission speed remains constant and the mechanical efficiency is high;

(2) By adopting a long cantilever structure, the spindle can achieve an "automatic centering" effect during operation, reducing the vibration of the spindle and atomization disc.

(3) Set up floating bearings to achieve three-point support for the soft shaft, enabling the shaft system to quickly cross critical speeds.

(4) The fixed position of the bracket should be arranged reasonably, and the fixed bracket position should be arranged at the node position to reduce the vibration load of the shaft system.

       Technical characteristics of centrifugal atomizer

The drying speed is fast, and after being atomized by a high-speed centrifugal atomizer, the surface area of the material liquid is greatly increased. In a hot air flow, 95% -98% of water can evaporate instantly, with a drying time of only a few seconds. Especially suitable for drying thermosensitive materials.

This product has good uniformity, fluidity, and solubility, high purity, and good quality. Simplified production process and convenient operation control. Liquids with a moisture content of 40-60% (up to 90% for special materials) can be dried into powder products in one go. After drying, there is no need for crushing and screening, thereby reducing the production process and improving product purity. By changing the operating conditions within a certain range, the particle size, bulk density, and moisture content of the product can be adjusted, which is very convenient for control and management.

I hope that through the detailed introduction in the previous text, everyone can have a deeper understanding of centrifugal atomizers. Due to the many factors that need to be considered during the operation of this equipment, it is recommended that operators perform routine inspections of the equipment during operation, so as to ensure that there are no problems with the equipment during the atomization process.
